Situated at the heart of a thriving village in the Cotswolds, Little Atkyns has been in the ownership of the same family since 1979.

Originally built as the coach house, stables and walled garden for Atkyns Manor, the property has never been bought or sold on the open market. With the future in mind the current generation have built upon the legacy of the last.

In addition to undertaking extensive conservation works throughout the house, the family added a green Oak, timber framed long room, a live work design studio, an outdoor kitchen and Oak clad workshops.

Coppice & Crown’s Classic Oak has been used throughout the home, and treated differently in each room, to create its own unique design. In the bedroom the boards are polished smoothly for a sleek minimalist atmosphere, whereas in the timber framed long room, the boards have been left unsanded, and have been fixed using nails. This gives a much more rustic appearance to the room, homing in on its proximity to nature.

Architectural design and restoration was overseen by an old family friend, Tristan Salazar. The build was completed by the Little family, a team of highly skilled craftsmen from the Savernake Forest.

“As we deconstructed the old buildings, we aimed to reclaim and reuse as many of the original materials as possible. If we had to buy new we wanted to source the best quality from authentic suppliers. Materials with provenance and that would get better with age.”
