There’s something deeply satisfying about revisiting a space you’ve helped bring to life – especially when it’s stood the test of time. Last week, Tom and Polly took a well-earned break from the sawmill and headed back to one of Coppice & Crown’s earlier commercial installations for a quiet lunch at The Farmers Arms in Woolsery and a chance to see how the space is maturing.
The Farmers Arms Woolsery
Tom and Polly really enjoyed their visit, not only for The Farmers Arms seasonal, locally sourced food, but for the story underfoot.
Coppice & Crown supplied and fitted our Classic Oak flooring throughout the beautifully reimagined pub. On this visit, Tom and Polly had the pleasure of seeing how their boards have settled into the space, ageing gracefully with every footstep, spill, and celebration.

A Durable Choice of Classic Oak
The Farmers Arms is a busy, vibrant place. Whether it’s locals popping in for a pint or visitors travelling to experience something uniquely North Devon, the pub sees a steady stream of life through its doors. It’s the kind of setting where only the toughest, most characterful materials will thrive — and we’re proud to say our Classic Oak continues to do just that.
Our Thoughts on The Farmers Arms Flooring
What struck Polly most was how effortlessly the floor still anchors the space. The rich, warm tones of the oak have deepened over time, and the natural wear has only enhanced the character of the grain. The result is a surface that feels alive, authentic, and utterly at home.
Tom, ever the craftsman, noted how well the boards have held their shape and finish. Solid oak is often overlooked for commercial projects in favour of engineered or synthetic alternatives, but this floor is proof that with the right timber and careful installation, solid wood can more than hold its own.

An Inspiring Space
The Farmers Arms is a celebration of thoughtful renovation and craft, making it the perfect backdrop for Classic Oak. It reminds us that beautiful materials aren’t just for show — they’re for life, for use, for joy.
If you’re working on a commercial project and wondering whether solid British wood can stand up to the pace, let this be your answer. Classic Oak is more than just a flooring choice — it’s a long-term investment in warmth, character, and resilience.
