The Beginning of Solid Wood Floor Samples......
Our commitment to sustainability starts from the very beginning. All our timber is sourced exclusively from British woodlands, carefully selected for its quality and environmental impact. We only use timber that is locally grown, fully traceable, and certified with Grown in Britain, ensuring that every sample reflects our eco-conscious ethos.
Expert Sawing and Drying ......
Once the timber arrives at our North Devon sawmill, the process of transforming it into flooring begins. Our highly skilled team uses traditional sawing methods to cut each log into wide boards, which can be up to 350mm in width—over double the size of most commercial flooring options. This wide format allows the natural grain and character of the wood to shine through.
After sawing, the boards are carefully dried. This process is crucial to ensuring that the wood remains stable and durable, ready to be crafted into flooring that will last for generations.
Precision Milling ......
Once the boards are properly dried, they move on to the milling stage. Our expert craftsmen use precision machinery to ensure each board is perfectly straight, smooth, and ready for installation. The same care goes into our solid wood flooring samples, which are milled from the same high-quality timber as our full boards, giving you an accurate representation of the final product.
Finishing......
Our Classic Oak, Chestnut and Ash wood flooring samples all arrive how they would for a typical order – natural and untreated so you can experiment yourself with a hard wax oil of your choosing. The Heritage Oak samples we send out are finished differently…
Working with a natural product, each sample is completely unique. Our Heritage Oak samples are carefully hand picked, hand-sanded and finished with a clear oil to showcase the unique qualities of the wood, allowing you to see a better representation of how it will look in your space. The Heritage Oak can be hard to imagine the finished result if we weren’t to complete this process for you!
